I visited the Fulshear Farmers Market yesterday morning looking for a loaf of sourdough. Our usual baker wasn't there, so I decided to try Cake and Bacon. The samples tasted a little stale, so I asked when the bread had been baked. Rather than answering directly, the vendor told me he had picked it up from the bakery at 12:30 a.m. Since it sounded fresh enough, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was the most disappointing sourdough I've ever purchased. The loaf was dry, had very little flavor, and lacked the texture you'd expect from fresh sourdough. Whether I happened to receive an older loaf or this is their normal product, it certainly did not taste fresh. At $11 for a loaf, about twice what I pay at HEB, I expected a premium product. Instead, I had one slice and threw the rest away because it simply wasn't worth eating. I hope this was an isolated experience, because based on my first purchase I wouldn't buy from them again. It was a disappointing introduction to a new customer.

I’ve used Cake and Bacon for several concepts now and I have always gotten nothing but excellent service and products. Great company and anytime there was an issue or I needed something on the fly they were able to get it to me asap. Highly recommend

I’ve been buying from Cake & Bacon since 2020, and they truly have some of the best pastries in Houston. Everything I’ve tried has been fresh, flavorful, and consistently high quality. Their breads are always super fresh, and their pastries are on another level. I especially love the pain au chocolat — it is easily one of the best I’ve had, with more chocolate than any other bakery I’ve tried in Houston. You can tell they care about quality, and I’ll definitely continue supporting them. Highly recommend Cake & Bacon to anyone who loves fresh bread and amazing pastries.
